Academic Program

We begin by providing students with an environment conducive to learning. We offer classes large enough to include multiple perspectives and contrary ideas, yet small enough to encourage student interaction with professors and classmates. An open-door policy invites students to meet with professors outside of class. A collegial atmosphere embraces diversity and an open exchange of views.

Our comprehensive core curriculum has been thoughtfully structured to ensure that every Washburn Law student receives a solid foundation in the law. Nearly 150 courses, seminars and clinical offerings are available to you. As a result, Washburn Law graduates are well prepared to put their legal education to work in a wide range of settings, from the courtroom to the boardroom.

Every step of the way, from the first year through graduation, Washburn Law's comprehensive curriculum and innovative programs prepare law students for success in the legal profession.

Meeting Future Needs Now

Washburn University School of Law consistently evaluates its curriculum to meet the demands of our complex and dynamic world. Recognizing that legal and business studies complement each other and that real-world problems often require solutions from both legal and business perspectives, Washburn University has developed a dual degree program for students interesting in pursuing an M.B.A. and a J.D. In addition, Washburn students enrolled in the fall semester in the Maastricht University study abroad program can apply to three of Maastricht's Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree programs and, if accepted, Maastricht University will accept the credits earned in the study abroad semester toward its LL.M. degree.
