Tuition and Other Costs
Washburn University School of Law offers a high quality legal education at a reasonable cost. Tuition is competitive with other public law schools, and well below most private institutions. The relatively low cost of living in Topeka, the capital city of Kansas, adds to Washburn Law's appeal as the place to obtain your legal education.
Washburn Law is a public institution that receives funding from the State of Kansas, Shawnee County, and the City of Topeka.
Following are estimated tuition and fees, books, room and board, and transportation costs to attend Washburn University School of Law during the 2007-2008 academic year. (Amounts indicated by * are estimates provided by Washburn University Financial Aid Office.)
Qualifying for Resident Tuition: Students must be able to prove that Kansas has been their primary domicile for at least six months prior to second semester enrollment. For example, this means you must be living in Kansas by early July prior to your first semester to take advantage of resident tuition when you enroll for the second semester in January. An apartment lease or records of a home purchase, plus a Kansas drivers license, Kansas vehicle registration and Kansas voter registration are normally used as evidence of Kansas domicile.
Missouri residents from the following counties who enter Washburn Law with a 3.0 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale receive Kansas resident tuition immediately provided they move to Kansas and establish domicile within six months of enrollment: Andrew, Bates, Buchanan, Cass, Clay, Holt, Jackson, and Platte.
For more information see Residency Qualifications and the Residency Request Form.
