American Bar Association (ABA) Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund

The American Bar Association (ABA) Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund is intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school. Scholarships provide financial assistance to recipients who would not otherwise have the financial ability to attend law school. The ABA is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 academic year. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2015. (Faxed applications will not be accepted.)

The Scholarship Fund awards $5,000 of financial assistance annually to each scholarship recipient attending an ABA-accredited law school. Twenty awards will be made to entering first-year students. Awards may be renewable for two additional years, resulting in financial assistance totaling $15,000 during each student's time in law school. The application form may be downloaded from the Scholarship Fund website; it includes Requirements for Eligibility and other information about how to apply for a scholarship.
