ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund

The Scholarship Fund is intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance to the scholarship recipients. Twenty $5,000 awards will be made to entering first-year students and may be renewable for two additional years, resulting in financial assistance totaling $15,000 during each student's time in law school.
Eligibility: Recipients will be selected based on their qualifications for the scholarship and not on the law school they plan to attend. Therefore, law students applying to any and all ABA-accredited law schools may benefit from these scholarships. 1. Entering, first-year law student in the 2010 academic year. 2. The applicant must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 grading scale) at his or her undergraduate institution. 3. Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the USA.

Kansas Legal Professionals Scholarship

Kansas Legal Professional, Inc. (KLPI), shall annually award two scholarships: one scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, and one scholarship will be awarded based on financial necessity. Applicants must be sponsored by one of the local chapters of KLPI.
Eligibility: The applicant must: 1. Be a citizen of the United States; 2. Be a resident of Kansas; 3. Be (a) a high school senior, or (b) a high school graduate (or received a GED); 4. Plan to enroll or is enrolled in a school of advancec education; and 5. Document financial need.

C.L. Clark Scholarship

The Greater Salina Community Foundation is giving a scholarship to a Washburn University School of Law or University of Kansas School of Law student.
Eligibility: 1. Applicant must be currently enrolled at Washburn University School of Law or the University of Kansas School of Law. 2. Applicants must have graduated from a high school located in Saline County, KS. 3. Applicants may be first-year, second-year, or third-year students at either school, so long as they are full-time students making normal progress towards graduation. 4. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale. 5. Applicants must submit an official copy of his/her transcript with the application. 6. Applicants must submit a copy of his/her resume or CV. 7. The scholarship shall be awarded according to financial need. (Must submit copy of FAFSA Form)

Howard Fox Memorial Law Scholarship

In 1978 the Howard Fox Memorial Law Scholarship Fund was established by Helen and Richard Fox and Friends to honor the memory of their son who, as a proud member of the Berks County Bar Association, served as a young attorney in the Public Defender's Office. In June 2000, the Howard Fox Memorial Law Scholarship was transferred to the Berks County Community Foundation to manage and administer. The Berks County Community Foundation is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to develop, manage and distribute funding to meet existing and emerging community needs. Through permanent endowments created from charitable gifts, the Community Foundation makes grants from the earnings of the endowment. By keeping the principal balance of the funds intact and spending only earnings, the Community Foundation ensures a lasting and stable vehicle for the support and development of Berks County.
Eligibility: A deserving Berks County, Pennsylvania, resident embarking on his or her second year at an accredited Law School.

Susan J. Ferrell Scholarship

Award: One full (tuition, meals, and travel) scholarship to the Sovereignty Symposium XXV
Susan J. Ferrell served as Attorney Advisor in the Oklahoma City office of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for nine years. Much of her work concerned HUD's Native American programs; she was actively interested in Native American history and culture. Ed Edmondson Scholarship

Award: 100 Tuition Only Scholarships to Sovereignty Symposium XXV
Ed Edmondson served in the US Congress representing Oklahoma for twenty years. He was a long time supporter of both Native American concerns and education. A maximum of one hundred Symposium tuition only scholarships will be offered in his name as the Symposium's thank you for his support and efforts during its founding. Donald O'Brien Scholarship Award

This scholarship is in honor of Judge Donald O'Brien, Senior Judge, United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa.
Eligibility: The scholarship is open to any first- or second-year law student with ties to the State of Iowa who expresses an interest and intent to practice law in the area of civil rights, civil liberties, public interest, or other areas benefiting society's less fortunate.

Mike Eidson Scholarship

The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund was established by the AAJ Women for Justice Education Fund in 2008, in honor of AAJ Past President Mike Eidson, whose vision and generosity inspired it. The scholarship is awarded annually to a rising 3L (or rising 4L in a night program) female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a plaintiffs' lawyer or criminal defense lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.
