Request Transcripts
You may obtain an unofficial transcript directly from Washburn Law or an official transcript from the Washburn University Registrar's Office.
Obtaining An Unofficial Transcript From Washburn Law
Unofficial transcripts are available to currently enrolled students and graduates within one year of graduation. It is preferred that alumni obtain official transcripts.
To obtain an unofficial transcript:
- Contact the Dean's Office via fax (785-670-3249), e-mail, or phone (Donna McMurry, donna.mcmurry [at] washburn.edu, 785-670-1662; Donna Haverkamp, donna.haverkamp [at] washburn.edu, 785-670-1661). Fax requests are preferred.
- The fax should include the address where the transcript will be sent, your signature, and a telephone number where you can be contacted during business hours.
- There is presently no charge for this service.
Obtaining An Official Transcript From The Washburn University Registrar's Office
To obtain an official transcript:
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 requires that all transcript requests be in writing, signed and dated by the person to whom the academic record belongs.
You must use the Transcript Request Form (8 KB PDF; requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) to request your transcript from the Registrar's Office.
When completed you may print the Transcript Request Form and either:
- Mail it with a check, $3.00 per copy, to Office of the University Registrar, Washburn University, 1700 S.W. College Avenue, Topeka, KS 66621;
- Fax it to (785)670-1104. Faxed requests must be accompanied by credit card information; or
- Bring it in person to the Office of the University Registrar, 115 Morgan Hall, along with a $3.00 per copy payment. A picture I.D. will be required.
Requests are processed in the order in which they are received.
The approximate processing time after receiving the request in the mail or by fax is the next day. At the counter, staff will process your request as you wait, if your transcript is online. If it is only on hard copy (before 1985), it will be available the next working day after 10:00 a.m.
Note: University policy prohibits issuing transcripts to any student with any financial or other unmet obligations to the University.
You can assist the Registrar's Office by providing the following information:
- Full name as it appears on your record. Please include all names used while enrolled at the University.
- Social Security Number/Student Identification Number.
- Dates of Attendance.
- Address to which the transcript is to be mailed or Fax number to which the transcript is to be faxed. (Some universities and organizations/agencies will not accept a faxed transcript as official; check with them about their policy before making your request.) A faxed transcript request does not have priority over a mailed request.
- Your return address and telephone number in the event you need to be contacted.
Note: Your transcript request will not be processed without your signature or payment.
Make checks payable to Washburn University.
Requests without payment will be returned without processing.
The transcript request telephone information line is (785) 670-1078 and provides the same information listed above with the additional option of speaking to a member of the Registrar's Office staff. The general phone number for the Registrar's Office is (785) 670-1074.
