"The New Century in Irish Family Law: From No Divorce to Civil Unions"
Dr. Fergus Ryan, a graduate and former scholar of Trinity College, University of Dublin, is a lecturer in law at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Ireland. From 2003 to 2009 he served as acting Head of the Department of Law at DIT. He is also former President of the Irish Association of Law Teachers. Fergus is the author of several texts, book chapters and learned articles and has completed commissioned research for the Equality Authority (Ireland), the Irish Human Rights Commission, the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network and for the Law Reform Advisory Committee of Northern Ireland. Fergus appears regularly on national radio and television discussing topics of legal interest. His particular areas of legal academic interest include Family and Child Law, Contract Law, Constitutional Law and Gender, Sexuality and the Law.
