Indigenous Legal Studies
Washburn Law offers a course of study in tribal law, federal Indian law, and the international law of indigenous peoples. You will study the intersections between state, federal, and tribal law, as well as the internal laws of many tribal nations within the United States. These multiple perspectives allow you to study law from a variety of Western and indigenous points of view. Washburn Law is also one of the few law schools in the country to offer a tribal court clinic, giving you the unique opportunity to actively practice in Kansas tribal courts. You can gain immediate experience transferring your new knowledge from the classroom into the "real world" of practice.
