"Why Our Training in the Law is More Criticial Today than Ever Before"
Delano E. Lewis will visit Washburn University School of Law on Thursday, January 29, 2009 as the Spring 2009 Business and Transactional Law Center Distinguished Alumni in Residence. Ambassador Lewis' visit is co-sponsored by the Center for Law and Government.
Delano Lewis is the former Ambassador to South Africa, former President/CEO of National Public Radio, former CEO of Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), and currently the Senior Fellow at the International Relations Institute at New Mexico State University. He is a 1963 graduate of Washburn University School of Law.
Washburn Law Professor David Pierce, Director of the Business and Transactional Law Center, said, "Delano is in a unique position, considering his extensive experience in business as well as government service, to reflect on the lawyers that are needed for today's global society — particularly in light of the current global economic challenges and the events giving rise to those challenges."
Ambassador Lewis is being recognized by the Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas as the 2008 Kansan of the Year at their annual banquet on January 30, 2009.
