Washburn Business Law Society
The Washburn Business Law Society (WBLS) is a student-run organization. It provides many forums for students to supplement their classroom educational experience in areas of business and transactional law. For example, WBLS
- Hosts speakers throughout the year who provide insight into cutting edge business law topics
- Plans social events that allow students, faculty, and practitioners to meet in an informal setting to become more familiar with each other
- Organizes employment workshops to help members better prepare for and manage employment-search efforts
Members of WBLS elect officers annually.

2008-2009 Officers
Angela Y. Carlon is a third year law student serving as President of the Washburn Business Law Society. Angela is from Shawnee, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas in 2006 with a degree in Political Science and International Studies. She enjoys the litigation side of business law and plans to specialize in employment, real estate, or oil and gas at a law firm. Andrew C. Clark is a second year law student serving as Treasurer of the Washburn Business Law Society. Andrew is from Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Creighton University in 2007 with a degree in Finance. Andrew is also a student ambassador for the Washburn School of Law. Patrick M. Vogelsburg is a second year law student from Marysville, Kansas and serves as Treasurer of the Washburn Business Law Society. Patrick received a Bachelors of Arts from Washburn University with a degree in History. In addition to WBLS, Patrick spends time working as a law clerk and volunteering with local organizations. William Schmidt is a third year law student from Hutchinson, Kansas and serves as the Event Coordinator for the Washburn Business Law Society. William received a degree in English from Bethel College. He is also active in the Intellectual Property Society at Washburn Law and his interests include transactional law.
