Tax and Estate Planning Association

The Tax and Estate Planning Association (TEPA) is a student-run organization. It enhances students' classroom education with experiential and service opportunities. For example, TEPA

2011-2012 Officers

Photograph: Asel Mukeyeva.President: Asel Mukeyeva is a third year law student and is the president of TEPA. Asel has a BS in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University and a BA in Accounting from Washburn. Prior to law school, Asel worked in real estate development and finance where she managed LLCs, partnerships, subchapter S corporations and a 501(c)3 not for profit organization, all of which enabled Asel to utilize her finance and accounting skills. Asel has also successfully completed the CPA examination during her first year of law school and is currently working on obtaining certificates in Tax and Estate Planning. Asel's community service is comprised of various memberships including her role as Treasurer of YWCA USA National Board of Directors. Asel can be reached at asel.mukeyeva [at] washburn.edu.

Diane graduated from Tabor College with a B.A. in Business Administration: Finance & Management and History. Before attending law school, Diane worked for three years as a Financial Analyst for AT&T in Annapolis, Maryland. Diane is pursuing certificates in the areas of Tax and Estate Planning. Photograph: William Patterson.Secretary: William C. Patterson is a third year law student serving as Secretary of the Tax and Estate Planning Association. William also serves as President of the Real Estate Law Society and Secretary of the Washburn Business Law Society. William is from West Des Moines, Iowa and received a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa, with a double major in finance and real estate. Photograph: Kyle Sollars.Speaker Chair: Kyle Sollars is a second-year law student from Kansas City, Missouri. He has a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He also has a professional degree from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, where he studied commercial music business and production. Kyle is currently a law clerk at Riling, Burkhead, & Nitcher in Lawrence, Kansas. He was also an extern with the Law Department at Collective Brands, Inc., where he worked with international law and international business transactions. Over the summer he worked as a legal clerk at the Secretary of State's office. Currently, he is pursuing certificates in tax and small business transactions. Photograph: Kali Hague.VITA Chair: Kali Hague graduated from Kansas State University at Salina with a bachelors of science in Aeronautical Technology-Professional Pilot. Last winter Kali worked with TEPA and VITA to prepare income tax returns for low-income families.
