Steven M. Ellis, '06, Featured Guest

Spring Hill, Kansas

Steve Ellis, a 2006 graduate of Washburn University School of Law, founded Ellis & Zolotor Law Office, LLC, with the idea of providing committed and individualized representation to both businesses and individuals. Since then, he has expanded the firm's practice to include other areas of law. Ellis leads the firm's Small Business, Corporate, and Commercial Litigation practice area, and also handles contested family law issues (divorce, custody, support, paternity). Ellis also heads the Juvenile Offender (felony and misdemeanor) practice area and works with clients on estate planning and other legal matters. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and Johnson and Miami County Bar Associations. Ellis currently serves his community as an elected City Councilman, and prior to founding the firm, he worked for 14 years at the Sprint Corporation in various management roles.

The Honorable Gregory Waller, '73, Featured Speaker

Sedgwick County District Court

Judge Waller holds an associate of arts degree from Hutchinson Community College, bachelor of arts degrees in history and political science at Washburn University and a juris doctor degree from Washburn University School of Law. Upon completion of school, he became an associate at G. Edmond Hayes, Chartered, and subsequently became a partner in the firm of Hayes and Waller. In 1975, he joined the District Attorneys Office of Sedgwick County, Kansas. He prosecuted in that office for 18 years and was the third in the line of command. From 2002 to 2008, Waller was the presiding judge of the criminal department of the Sedgwick County District Court, the largest district in Kansas. He was the presiding judge in the trial of the BTK serial killer.
