Appellate Defense Practice Concentration
In this clinical concentration, student interns represent indigent criminal defendants in their appeals from felony convictions. Under close supervision, students review jury trial transcripts, identify and research specific legal issues, and draft appellate briefs for cases currently pending in the Kansas appellate courts. This class is a recent expansion of the established clinical programs at Washburn Law and allows students to develop their research and writing skills while learning practical techniques for appellate lawyering.
