Curtis J. Waugh Joins Law Clinic As a Visiting Professor

Photograph: Curtis Waugh.Meeting the practice interests of law students has always been a goal of the Law Clinic. The Law Clinic recently affirmed this goal by hiring Curtis J. Waugh as a supervising attorney. Professor Waugh will supervise interns concentrating on general civil matters such as housing and consumer issues, elder law issues, contract issues and tort issues.

By adding Professor Waugh to the Clinic faculty, a void has been filled in a practice area the Clinic has not been able to offer for the past year.

Before joining the Clinic, Professor Waugh practiced for 16 years with the Topeka firm of Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer, primarily in the areas of civil litigation and appellate practice. He has also taught Pretrial Advocacy at Washburn Law School as an Adjunct Professor and currently serves on the Adult Advisory Committee of the Shawnee County Youth Court.

"Because of the fine rapport between students and faculty at Washburn Law, the Clinic serves as an effective advocate for its clients' interest while developing students' skills as practicing lawyers. The general civil practice offered by the Clinic meets an important need in Topeka and enriches the students' training."
