Legal Analysis, Research and Writing
"Law revolves around language and the aptitude one has with the language. Sometimes students don't realize how carefully language must be observed and how specifically it must be used. I work to increase students' understanding and appreciation of the legal language."
Professor Byers has experience as a trial attorney, having practiced in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice, Washington, D.C., and as Assistant U.S. Attorney in San Antonio, Texas. Her civil litigation solo practice had an emphasis in wrongful death and commercial litigation. She also served as a Visiting Professor of Law at St. Mary's University School of Law. Professor Byers is licensed to practice in Kansas, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and the District of Columbia.
