Administering Final Exams
Kerri Pelton administers exams for students who elect to use their computers to take their exams on Examsoft. The faculty member teaching the course is responsible for administering handwritten exams. If the faculty member cannot be available to distribute, proctor, or pick up the exam, he or she should make arrangements for anther faculty or staff member to do so.
Exam Accommodations
Students who need an accommodation for a disability should be referred to Professor Lynette Petty, who also serves as Assistant Dean for Accommodations. After meeting with the student and receiving documentation from the student's professional health care provider, Professor Petty will determine what accommodation is needed for the student. If the accommodation is exam-related, she will notify Donna Haverkamp who will request exam information from the student's faculty members and proctor the exam.
For students who missed a scheduled exam due to temporary illness or other reasons but do not need exam accommodations, the professor/student should contact Donna Haverkamp to make arrangements for taking the missed exam.
Exam Storage
ABA standards require all exams be kept on file for one academic year. Exams should be retained by faculty members in their offices for at least six weeks after grades are posted for students who wish to review their exams. Preferably faculty members should store the exams for the entire year in their offices. If there is not room, arrangements should be made with the Dean's office to store them in law school storage on the first floor of the law library.
