Overview

Law Library student staff provide service at the circulation desk. They assist patrons in obtaining materials from the reserve collection and check books and other materials out and in. Student staff create guest patron records. They answer directional questions and refers reference questions to the reference librarian. Student staff answer the telephone, direct calls and take and relay messages. They also refer and relate problems to the Circulation Librarian. Student staff working weekend hours typically open and/or close the library. Students work under the supervision of the Circulation Librarian.

Other tasks include:

  • Shelving books
  • Picking up and straightening study areas and shelves
  • Checking and replenishing paper supplies for printers and photocopiers
  • Checking and filling staplers
  • Filing loose-leaf services
  • Making photocopies as directed
  • Placing newspapers on rack
  • Checking for book holdings
  • Reading shelves as directed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required: Willingness to work nights and weekends. Working during finals under a special schedule made to accommodate the study and exam times of each student.

Rate of Pay

Pay rate is $7.25 per hour for all students.
