The Law Library provides a lab and various work areaswith computers for law students to use to access the Internet, perform wordprocessing, or recieve training on specialized databases and software.

2nd Floor Lab

The computer lab on the 2nd floor of the Law Library is the primary location for individual student work. The lab consists of 12 workstations. Each workstation has access to local and wide area network resources including the Internet, email, Washlaw, and electronic discussion lists. In addition each computer is equipped with word processing, interactive educational programs, and various software applications. Ten computers are configured to run Windows Vista and two are configured for Windows XP.

The mobile computer lab may be reserved for training sessions in the 1st floor lab.

Mobile Computer Laptop Cart

A mobile computer lab of 15 computers can be set up almost anywhere in the law school with the use of the Mobile Computer Cart.

The mobile computer cart consists of 15 Dell Latitude D600 laptop computers configured with Microsoft Office 2007 and Wordperfect X3. Each laptop is also configured to record video events using a web camera and MicroSoft Media Encoder.

Laptops automatically connect to the Washburn University wireless network for instant Internet access from anywhere in the law school building.

Each laptop includes a battery-saving Pentium M CPU with 2GB of RAM, a 14.1 inch screen, a 40GB hard drive and a CD-RW drive.

If special software is required for a training session, please contact the Computer Help Desk in advance of training to allow time for installation.

Both the 1st floor and 2nd floor labs may be reserved for specialized training sessions. To reserve the labs for training, contact the Computer Help Desk staff.
