Faculty Scholarship

  1. Systematically collect all faculty writings in hard copy for archival preservation and display.
  2. Systematically collect and/or create electronic versions of all faculty writings for distribution via appropriate online venues, e.g., Washburn Law website faculty page, Washburn institutional repository, Social Sciences Research Network (SSRN), Berkeley Electronic Press (BePress).
  3. Coordinate with the Faculty Development Committee regarding the Selected Faculty Writings display case and oversee rotation and selection of items for display.
  4. Conduct annual check of faculty offices to reconcile library circulation records and request feedback for collection or faculty service enhancements.

Website Maintenance

  1. Assist law school website manager with maintenance and creation of content on the law school website (www.washburnlaw.edu).
  2. Monitor search engine logs to identify potential areas for content creation and to ensure specific search terms lead to appropriate content.
  3. Provide descriptive titles and metadata for website content (e.g., Word files, PDF documents).
  4. Oversee maintenance of selected portions of WashLaw (www.washlaw.edu).

Archival

  1. Review and organize existing archival material.
  2. Design and implement finding aids, including computer-based, to existing archival material.
  3. Identify and provide access to relevant School of Law material in archival repositories at Mabee Library and the Kansas State Historical Society.
  4. Continuously coordinate with other law school departments to identify and acquire relevant print and electronic archival material for permanent retention.
  5. Work with the website manager to develop, implement, and maintain a mechanism to store and make available law school related print and digital photographs.
  6. Oversee and maintain the Alumni Writings and U.S. Supreme Court Autographs special collections.
  7. Serve on task forces of affiliated organizations involved in the preservation of print and electronic legal information, e.g., Legal Information Preservation Alliance (LIPA), Mid-America Law Library Consortium (MALLCO), Law Library Microform Consortium (LLMC), Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS).

Reference

  1. Serve up to 15 hours per week on the reference desk, including one evening or weekend shift per week.
  2. Serve as liaison to selected members of the faculty, promoting effective use of the library.
  3. Serve as the in-house expert for selected electronic resources.
