Faculty Research and Scholarship
- Conduct specialized legal research for faculty on specific projects approved by the Library Director or Head of Reference.
- Develop and coordinate a program for orienting and training faculty research assistants.
- Oversee research assistants assigned to the library who conduct research for faculty who do not have a regularly assigned research assistant.
- Conduct a periodic survey of faculty research and scholarship interests in coordination with the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Development.
- Meet periodically with the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Development, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Library Director and Head of Reference to coordinate efforts to enhance faculty scholarship and teaching.
Bibliographic Instruction
- Prepare research guides, course resource web pages, bibliographies, finding aids, and other research tools to assist faculty, students, and attorneys in more effectively utilizing the library's research resources.
- Assist the Head of Reference in continually improving the effectiveness of the faculty liaison program to assist the faculty in making full use of the library's research resources and services.
- As requested by law faculty, make presentations to law school classes on legal research topics. Develop, present, and coordinate informal presentations (including web-based tutorials) on legal research topics.
- Develop and help teach formal courses in advanced or specialized legal research topics (e.g., federal tax research, Canadian and British Legal Research, advanced legislative, regulatory, and policy research) that support the law school's curriculum, certificate programs and Centers of Excellence.
Centers for Excellence and Certificate Programs
- Assist the law school website manager and WashLaw editor in developing high quality content for Center and WashLaw web pages that will attract scholars and other interested researchers to the Washburn sites.
- Serve as a liaison to the Center directors and Certificate program coordinators to facilitate the effective use of library resources and services.
- Make CLE and other presentations to faculty, students, and attorneys as part of the regular programming of the Centers.
Reference
- Serve up to 15 hours per week on the reference desk, including one evening or weekend shift per week.
- Serve as a liaison to selected members of the faculty, promoting effective use of the library.
- Serve as the in-house expert for selected electronic resources.
- Assist with collection development projects as requested by the Library Director.
Administration
- Assume administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Reference or Library Director.
