Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead Law School Information Technology strategic and operational planning to achieve organizational goals
- Articulate the short and long-term technological needs and strategies of the Law School as a partner in institutional planning processes, balancing academic and administrative needs
- Prioritize information technology initiatives, and coordinate the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization
- Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the Law School
- Provide day-to-day supervision, conduct performance appraisals, and delegate work assignments for all IT personnel
- Promote team building and growth paths for IT
- Establish IT department goals, objectives, and operating procedures
- Act as an advocate for the Law School's Information Technology vision via regular written and in-person communications with the Law School Deans, faculty, department heads, staff and students
- Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating budget
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
- Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT system and resources, including sourcing, purchasing and in-house development
- Obtain quotes and arrange for the purchase of new technology; arrange invoice payments as necessary
- Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts
- Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of staff usage and monitoring of IT systems performance
- Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations
- Direct development and execution of the Law School Disaster Recovery Plan and Business Continuity Plan and accompanying procedures
- Approve, prioritize, and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of the major information systems
