Family Law Quarterly Rated High Among Speciality Journals

In a forthcoming article, 'The Most Cited Law Reviews,' to be published in The Journal of Legal Studies, Fred Shapiro of the Yale law library reports that the Family Law Quarterly, published at Washburn University School of Law since 1992, ranks 15th among all specialized legal periodicals in the average number of times each article is cited in other legal publications during the last ten years. Citations per article gives a measure of the influence a published article has.

An earlier article using different criteria, published in the Florida State University Law Review (127 KB PDF; requires Adobe Acrobat Reader), rated the Family Law Quarterly as the 76th most prestigious journal among 284 specialized law journals published by American law schools. The authors, two law professors at the University of Missouri-Columbia, based their assessment upon the prominence of the authors who published articles in each journal.
