Kevin Barney Speaks About Dead Sea Scrolls
Kevin Barney, a Chicago attorney with Kutak, Rock, spoke to law students and other interested persons about the Dead Sea Scrolls at Washburn Law School on Friday, September 8, 2000. He provided background information about the scrolls and traced developments in Dead Sea Scroll scholarship from discovery in 1947 to the present. DNA analysis and other technological tools are being used to facilitate the matching of fragments.
Barney, who reads Latin, Greek, Coptic, and Hebrew, and who has studied the scrolls as an avocation for 20 years, also responded to questions from the audience of 50. His campus visit was sponsored by the Washburn student chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. Barney's visit was in connection with a traveling exhibit on the Dead Sea Scrolls which was in Topeka from September 7-9, 2000.
The Topeka Capital-Journal had stories about the exhibit in its September 2, 2000 issue. Visit the Dead Sea Scrolls web site for more information.
