Alumni Contributors Rank Washburn Law Second Among Public Law Schools
Washburn University School of Law had the eighth highest percentage rate of alumni contributions during 1999-2000 among the 183 law schools accredited by the American Bar Association. According to the American Bar Association, a total of 36% of Washburn Law graduates made contributions to the law school. That percentage was 2.9% higher than in 1998-1999 when Washburn had the 12th highest percentage rate of giving among alumni.
For the second consecutive year, only the University of Virginia had a higher percentage giving rate than Washburn among public law schools. The only private law schools with higher percentage giving rates were Yale, Washington & Lee, Marquette, Vanderbilt, the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard. The national average rate of alumni giving to law schools is just 15.8%.
"The high level of alumni support we enjoy is a testament to the high quality experience, both educationally and personally, our alumni feel they had while attending Washburn Law School," Dean James Concannon commented. "Current students benefit not only from the scholarships and program enhancements alumni contributions support but also from the assistance in career placement and entry into the legal profession that such a large group of loyal alumni can provide."
Alumni continued their support during the 2001 Washburn Law School Phonathon. Due to generous alumni support, the 2001 phonathon was the most successful in Washburn Law history. Approximately 90 new donors were added and the phonathon exceeded its goal.
Thanks for helping us exceed our goal, making 2001 the most successful Phonathon in Washburn Law School's history!
The Annual Law School Phonathon was held from January 29-February 9, 2001. Donations from alumni are used for scholarships, technology upgrades, library purchases, Robinson Courtroom, etc.
