J. Reuben Clark Law Society Hosts Lew Cramer
Lew Cramer, International Chair of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, spoke to members of the Washburn Student Chapter and their spouses on Saturday morning, October 23, 2004. He offered words of encouragement, discussed the importance of ethics and integrity in daily practice and gave pointers on several possible career paths, including service in the federal government and with non-profit agencies in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Cramer also presented Dean Dennis Honabach with a copy of Life in the Law, a book of essays by thoughtful men and women who have examined things that matter most in both their professional and private lives. Most of the essays first appeared in the Clark Memorandum, official publication of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. The book will be placed in the Washburn Law Library.
Lew Cramer is the founder and managing director of Summit Ventures, LLC, a technology and financial consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., which focuses on investment projects in the emerging world. He served in the Reagan Administration as a White House Fellow and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Science and Electronics, and in the Bush I Administration as Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, leading the 1400 commercial attaches at 120 embassies worldwide in expanding international trade and investment opportunities. In the private sector, he worked as Vice-President for US WEST International and MediaOne International to establish wireless and broadband telecom systems in twenty countries worldwide. He practiced law in Los Angeles, and is an adjunct professor of international business at Georgetown University. He graduated from the charter class of the BYU Law School and currently serves as International Chair of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.
