Bill Bunten speaks to students about legal opportunities in banking
On Tuesday, March 15, 2005, Bill Bunten spoke to students about legal opportunities in banking.
After getting his law degree and his MBA, Bunten worked as president of two banks and as chief operating officer of others. The banks Bunten worked for include First National Bank of Detroit and Merchants National Bank of Topeka. He also worked at banks in Des Moines and in Wichita.
Bunten said when he hired lawyers, he looked for lawyers who had good ethics. He also emphasized the importance of management experience and encouraged students to consider MBA programs.
Bunten also addressed compliance issues in the banking industry and the differences between the way large banks operate as opposed to smaller banks.
Bunten graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 1956. Bunten will be on the Board of Advisers for the Business Law Center. He is also a member of the Washburn Law School Association Board of Governors.
