Washburn a National Jurist 'Best Value' Law School

Washburn University School of Law is ranked 31st of all 200 law schools in the United States in "The National Jurist's Best Value Law Schools," September 2009.

The schools on the list "carry a low price tag and are able to prepare their students incredibly well for today's competitive job market," according to The National Jurist. Schools ranked had low tuition, high employment after graduation, and bar passage rates above the state average.

"Washburn University School of Law provides our students a great legal education at a very reasonable cost," said Dean Thomas J. Romig. "We offer the quality education found in many private law schools, but at a public law school price. Because of the continued generosity of our alumni, we are able to keep costs low."

According to The National Jurist, the ranked schools have strong clinical programs and an emphasis on fostering relationships within the law school community. Students at Washburn Law have a number of opportunities to get hands-on experience before they graduate. The Washburn Law Clinic, which operates as a working law firm, is staffed by upper-level law students and full-time faculty members trained in clinical education. There are also many opportunities for externships in the Topeka area.

The typical class size at Washburn Law is 150 students from about 25 states.
