Energy & Mineral Law Foundation Awards Scholarships to Washburn Law Students

Washburn Law students were recognized by the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF) for their commitment to the study of oil and gas law. The EMLF awarded $50,000 in scholarships to students at 11 law schools. Two of the scholarships, for a total of $10,000, were awarded to Washburn students Adeel Syed and Anthony “Tony” Ford. Syed and Ford have been active participants in Washburn’s oil and gas program. Syed is clerking this summer with Foulston Siefkin in Wichita and Ford is clerking with the Crowley Fleck firm in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The EMLF celebrated its 35th anniversary in June. The EMLF was formed to provide lawyers with opportunities to learn about the law associated with the development and regulation of oil, gas, coal, and other energy resources. During the EMLF’s annual meeting in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Washburn University School of Law was voted in as a governing member organization of the EMLF.
