2018 Washburn Law Clinic Interns Sworn In

Group of students being sworn in by Judge Ebberts.On January 24, 2018, 17 Washburn Law students were sworn in by Judge Steven R. Ebberts, '93, to practice law in the state of Kansas as interns for the Washburn Law Clinic.

"Your work in the profession will no longer be theoretical," Co-Director of the Washburn Law Clinic John Francis told the interns. "You’ll be applying the skills and knowledge you’ve acquired over the past few years and use it to help other people. You, as attorneys, have the ability to effect change in very profound ways."

Judge Ebberts explained that there is a great need for legal assistance for those without financial means in Topeka, the state of Kansas, and beyond. As lawyers, he said, "You will make the world a better place for those people and for yourselves."
