Director's Report for 2014-2015

Students participating in the Children and Family Law Center gain skills needed to specialize in family law and related areas. They also make a difference in the lives of children and families in the Topeka community. Highlights of the 2014-2015 academic year include:

  • 9 students earned Family Law Certificates.
  • Two 2015 graduates were the first to complete the J.D./Master of Social Work dual degree program.
  • Students volunteered with several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Shawnee County Court Appointed Special Advocates, and the Horizons program that provides parents with the tools to reduce conflict during divorces.
  • Several lunchtime programs, ranging from same-sex parenting issues to domestic mediation to human trafficking, provided students the opportunity learn from family law practitioners.
