Nancy G. Maxwell
"I have two goals for my students. I want my students to become increasingly independent and to regularly challenge themselves. To do so, I work to provide a foundation blending theoretical analysis with the practical side of law because I realize my students will pursue diverse professional lives. The transformation process from when the student enters the law school to graduation is remarkable. It's rewarding when I play a role in the development of a student's self-determination."
Professor Maxwell practiced law in North Dakota prior to teaching as a Visiting Professor at the University of North Dakota School of Law. She joined the Washburn Law faculty in 1979. She is licensed to practice law before state and federal courts in North Dakota and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Professor Maxwell is a member of the Family Law Advisory Committee of the Kansas Judicial Council.
