How To E-mail an Entire Class
E-mailing Your Class
Students can use the built-in CLASS feature which includes a class discussion area, announcement area, and a calendar. You will be able to see a roster of your entire class. You can communicate with your entire class by e-mail. Read on!
Secretaries are not automatically included; professors must add them if they want them to be able to use this feature. Contact Dee Barker (below) if you need help adding someone.
Instructions:
- Log onto MyWashburn with your name and password.
- One of the tabs will be WU Today, along with Students, or Faculty. These tabs vary according to what applies to you. Click on Students or Faculty.
- Click on MyCourses in blue along the top.
- You should now see the classes that you attend or teach.
- Click on the title of the class that you wish to e-mail.
- Find the menu on the left entitled "Course Tools." To see a list of the names of the members of your class, click on Members at the bottom.
- To send an e-mail message, click on E-mail. A list of the entire class will be displayed with boxes next to each name.
- To send a message to the whole class, click on Select All and Send E-mail. Use the box to type in a message. (You do not need to place anyone in the Address part unless their name is not in the class list of the previous page.)
- Click Send and all members of the class with a check mark will receive your message. To send to one individual, click that box and then Send E-mail.
For Professors:
- If you wish your secretary/teaching assistant to be a member of the list, you go to configuration tools on the left menu and click on members.
- Go to add Members.
- Click on either Teaching Assistant or Guest Member.
- Put their name in the box and click Add beside the name.
- The system will search for their e-mail address and a box will come up.
- You type a message explaining that you are adding them to your class list.
- Your message will be e-mailed to them immediately, and they will be able to e-mail your entire class.
If you need additional assistance, please feel free to give Dee Barker (dee.barker@washburn.edu) a call at ext. 1786. She will be happy to work you through the process.
