Setting up Outlook 2010 with MyWashburn Email


  1. Step 1 Open Outlook and click Next to create an account. If you have already setup an existing account in Outlook go to the File tab and click Add Account. Check the checkbox to Manually configure server settings.
  2. Step 2Take the default Internet Email.

    • Your Name: My Email
    • E-mail Address: firstname.lastname@washburn.edu
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming mail server: mail.washburn.edu
    • Outgoing mail server: mail.washburn.edu
    • Fill out your Logon Information and click on More Settings
  4. Step 4Click on the Outgoing tab and check the box 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.'
  5. Step 5Click on the Advanced tab and change the following:
    • Incoming server: Port 993
    • Connection: SSL

    • Outgoing server: Port 465
    • Connection: SSL
  6. Step 6Click on Test Account Settings...
  7. Step 7The two green check marks mean you have successfully setup the account. You should receive a test email in your Inbox.
