How To Record a Video With a Webcam

- Turn on the laptop computer.

- Plug the Webcam into the bottom USB port on the back of the computer.
- Point the camera to where the action will be, as close as is feasible, to maximize audio quality.
- Adjust the laptop audio properties and voice recording volume to maximum level. Make sure mute is off.
- On the computer desktop, double click Windows Movie Maker.
- Click on "Capture from Video Device" in the upper left corner. This opens the Video Capture Wizard.
- Make some noise near the camera and watch the microphone input level bar. The bar will move up and down to the noise.
- If the bar moves, proceed to the next step.
- If the bar does not move, make sure mute is turned off, and the audio properties are at maximum levels.
- Click "Next"
- Enter a file name for your video.
- Click "Next."
- Accept the default video settings.
- Click "Next."
- A window will appear showing what the camera is going to capture. Make adjustments accordingly.
- Click Start Capture.
- When you are finished, click Stop Capture.
- Click "Finish." The video will be saved on the computer desktop.
