Washburn Law Journal
Editor's Note
Volume 40, No. 2 (Winter 2001)
Volume 40, Issue 2 of the Washburn Law Journal should provide readers with opportunities to sample works from traditional areas of the law, such as civil rights, criminal law, business organizations, and tort, as well as perhaps less frequently visited legal subjects, such as governmental immunity and the legal history of religion. Written by Professor Michael deHaven Newsom, The American Protestant Empire: A Historical Perspective is an immense compilation of major legal and social events leading to the creation of the modern-day Protestant faith in America, and includes an in-depth study of the history of Roman Catholicism in Europe. Gary Chartier's essay, Civil Rights and Economic Democracy, takes an innovative argument in support of civil rights, an argument similar in many ways to that of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is our hope that the mixture of subjects found in Issue 2 is somewhat representative of the wide variety of legal disciplines practiced by our readers.
