Employment law and human resources advice are topics of Transactional Lunch

On Thursday, April 18, 2013, the Business and Transactional Law Center hosted a Transactional Lunch with John, ’76, and Kristina Dietrick of Creative Business Solutions.

Creative Business Solutions provides employment law and human resources advice to a range of individual and corporate clients.

Law students Eileen Ma, Christopher Valentino, Matthew Sullard, Colin Quinn, Lauren Schulz, Robert Young, and Matthew McGregor were able to learn about both the practice of employment law, and the law itself. Mr. Dietrick discussed the laws that apply to different types and sizes of employers, and then walked through both an employment contract and a separation agreement with the students. Mr. Dietrick’s experience with such agreements made the discussion very relevant for students who may either draft or sign such an agreement themselves in the future.

Ms. Dietrick led a discussion of more than a dozen hypothetical situations, based on their practice, that employers often encounter. The practice tips, legal instruction and real-life fact patterns, combined with the small, informal format, made for another great Transactional Lunch.
