Washburn Law Library
Welcome
Celebrate National Library Week
Law Library Book Sale
April 12-16, 2010
Welcome to Washburn University School of Law Library — one of the nation's best academic law libraries!
Did you know that . . .
- National Jurist compared 178 U.S. law school libraries on seven objective criteria and ranked us in the top twenty (Nov/Dec. 2000, p. 21).
- Our collection has maintained vitality for over 20 years. ABA data for Fall 2001 shows the library ranks in the top quarter for number of new titles added, the number of web-based holdings, and the ratio of dollars per student invested in library materials.
- We rank in the top 15 percent of U.S. law school libraries in the level of professional staffing. With professional librarians providing reference 87 hours per week when school is in session, students benefit from the staff's expertise and helpfulness.
A major library addition and renovation completed in 1992 provides a comfortable facility for study and research. A mixture of individual carrels, study tables, and lounge seating accommodates a variety of study preferences.
A range of amenities and services beckons students to the library: the Book Nook's collection of New York Times Best Sellers, a popular magazine area, the current newspaper area, and nooks and crannies for quiet study.
The library is home to many of the technology resources available for student use:
- WashLaw-- one of the nation's leading Internet legal research portals,
- computer help desk,
- 30-station computer lab,
- specialized printing including resume printing,
- scanning,
- fax machine,
- Internet access points (wireless and hardwire) for student lap tops, and
- video conferencing for job interviews.
If you have any questions or concerns about the library or its services, don't hesitate to contact me. Our goal is to help you be successful!
Sincerely,
John E. Christensen
