Academics

Washburn University School of Law prides itself on its successful, student-centered approach to teaching. We begin by providing an environment conducive to learning.

We offer classes large enough to include multiple perspectives yet small enough to encourage interaction among classmates and professors. An open-door policy invites you to meet with professors outside of class, and a collegial atmosphere embraces diversity and an open exchange of views.

At Washburn Law, you can choose from nearly 150 courses, seminars, and clinical offerings. Every step of the way, from the first year through graduation, our comprehensive curriculum and innovative programs prepare students for success in the legal profession.

Two Enrollment Options

You may start law school in August, through our traditional Fall Start Program, or in January, through the Spring Start Program.

Law school tuition does not depend on whether courses are offered in person or online. The law school reserves the right to move some or all instruction online if the law school deems it necessary and appropriate to allow students to continue with their education in a timely fashion.

Washburn Law recognizes that there are many different paths into and out of law school. To provide its graduates with the maximum flexibility for career options, Washburn Law has carefully designed its first-year and upper-level curriculum, including its requirements and electives, to ensure that graduates from its juris doctor program achieve and exceed the ABA mandated learning outcomes. Our curriculum evolves with the practice of law; consequently, it is subject to change.
