Externship Program

Second- and third-year law students enhance their legal education through off-campus placements – and obtain professional experience early. Many externs work on actual assignments and issues that impact real people.

"Washburn Law offers great opportunities for hands-on training. The summer after my first year, I received externships credit for working in the public defender's office. I met with clients, completed legal research, and assisted one of the public defenders throughout a full trial. This experience helped develop my skills and allowed me to apply what I learned in class to a real-world setting."
