September 8, 2020 Presentation

Kristen Egger will present "Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace: Exploring Liability under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Regulatory Solutions." Ms. Egger will discuss the ability of AI to discriminate in the workplace, how this impacts people with disabilities, and how employers face liability for use of AI under the ADA. She will also discuss regulatory efforts that she believes must occur in the public and private sectors, not only for the industry to avoid liability, but for sixty-one million people with disabilities to have equal opportunities in the next technological frontier.

September 15, 2020 Presentation

Carolyn Smith will present "Slipping Through the Cracks: Kansas Protection Order Procedures Are Not Protecting Victims of Domestic Violence." Ms. Smith will discuss the Kansas Protection from Abuse statute and how the procedures outlined fail to protect victims of violence. She will propose a statutory change to create uniform application across the state and to ensure better protection for those who need it.
