Faculty will help you prepare for the next step in your education and know what to expect and how to succeed as you continue to build upon your established legal knowledge. Fall 2026 2L Success Seminar (2 Days)
  • Required seminar — In-Person – Dole Hall, room 152
  • For students beginning their third or fourth semester — 2Js and 2Ls  
  • Students considered 2J are encouraged to attend the 2L and 3L sessions
  • Breaks are NOT noted on the schedule, but will be provided as needed.

8:00 am – Coffee – Smith Commons
8:30 - 9:30 a.m. – Building on 1L Knowledge (Baldwin and Stewart)

  • Assessing and adjusting study skills
  • Utilizing academic resources (study tools, exam review etc.)
  • Applying legal principles from foundational knowledge
  • Outlining
  • Taking the MPRE
  • Time Management

9:30 - 10:30 a.m. – TYA, Internships, Externships, Rural Externships, Centers and Certificates (Leisinger)

  • What employment qualifies? How do I find TYA employment?  How do I enroll?
  • How can I qualify for the Attorney Training program for Rural Kansas?
  • What are certificates and how do I enroll?
  • What are the Centers?
  • What is the difference between an internship and externship?

10:30 - 11:30 a.m. – Library support, study aids, and research resources

12:00 - 1:00 p.m. – Lunch – Smith Commons

1:00 - 2:00 p.m. – Professional Identity Formation (Grant)

2:00 - 3:00 p.m. – Maintaining Health and Wellness in the Second and Third Year (Hartz)

3:00 - 5:00 p.m. – Career Planning, Job Search Strategy, and Obtaining Legal Experience (King and Wiggins)
