Services for Students:
Books by Mail
Students who are unable to come to the law library may request circulating books through our reference email and have books sent to you by mail for FREE.
Search for books using the library catalog: https://topekalibraries.info/. Once you have found an item you want, please email the TITLE, AUTHOR, and CALL NUMBER to libraryref@washburnlaw.edu. Please also include your postal address and a contact phone number.
Return the items for free using the same packaging. Attach the included shipping label and prepaid postage. Drop the package at your local post office.
Study Aids
Lexis/Nexis Digital Library: offers access to Lexis treatises, practice guides, and study aids for law students, in eBook format. Available to Washburn Law students, staff, and faculty (use firstname.lastname and your WUID number to log in) Guest access is available at the law library.
CALI: Provides access to hundreds of law professor created quizzes and exercises on a variety of legal topics. Contact Barbara Ginzburg (barbara.ginzburg@washburn.edu) for the registration key.
Articles
Hein Online: provides image and text-based access to law journals, Federal Register, treaties and agreements, U.S. Supreme Court reports.The libraries in HeinOnline provide comprehensive coverage from the inception of each publication.
JSTOR: Washburn now has access to the complete JSTOR Archival Journals and Primary Sources Collection which includes JSTOR Archive Collections, JSTOR Thematic Collections, JSTOR Primary Sources Collections, and JSTOR Global Plants. These collections encompass content from a broad range of disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, and life sciences. Washburn University, through Mabee Library, subscribes to the Arts & Sciences I-XI and Life Sciences Collections.

This library is a congressionally designated depository for U.S. Government Documents. Public access to the government documents collection is guaranteed by public law. (Title 44 United States Code)

Law students, faculty, and staff can access the law library 24/7, 365 days per year.
- Outside normal hours the library can be accessed through the main door.
- You must have an iCard issued August 2021 or later (see above).
- To use the door, hold your iCard next to the device (no swipe needed), wait for the green light, enter the library.
- Printers and scanners can be used.
- If you need to check out a book please return to the library and do so during normal business hours.
NOTE: Students, faculty, and staff with older iCards can have a new iCard made at no charge by visiting the iCard Center in Memorial Union.
