Clarissa Harvey joined the faculty at Washburn University School of Law in 2023 as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Clinical Law. Professor Harvey holds a B.S. in Sport Management with a minor in Business from the University of Kansas and a Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law. She is a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bar.

Before her legal career, she worked in real estate dealing with high-stakes residential contracts. In 2021, Governor Laura Kelly appointed her to serve a four-year term as the 3rd Congressional District representative to the Kansas Real Estate Commission.

After law school, she became a Contract Advisor certified by the National Football League Players Association to counsel professional athletes with respect to negotiating their individual contracts. She founded the Law Office of Clarissa Harvey, where she cultivated a thriving legal practice over several years. As the Principal Attorney, she represents entrepreneurs and small businesses working on a wide range of projects, from counseling entrepreneurs on legal issues facing early-stage companies to trademark prosecution, contract drafting, and business entity formation.

Professor Harvey is committed to supporting law students entering the legal profession. As part of the Small Business and Nonprofit Transactional Law Clinic, Professor Harvey teaches a seminar on transactional law practice and related skills. She also supervises students under Kansas Supreme Court Rule 715 as they serve the legal needs of low-income businesses and nonprofit organizations in Topeka, seeking to empower their communities and create economic stability.
