Message from Dean Jackson

Hello, Washburn Law Alumni and Community,

Spring is in the air! Even the late snow we had in mid-March could not deter the excitement and anticipation of warmer weather in the coming weeks. Soon enough, students will take to the picnic tables to prep for finals and the end of another successful semester here at Washburn.

In addition to the beginning of spring, March also marks Women’s History Month. To honor the legacy of Washburn Law School’s first female graduate, several alumnae came together in 2020 to launch the Jessie Junette Nye Society. For the first time since coming together, the group is now hosting a lunch and learn featuring six generations of accomplished attorneys. All alumni are welcome to join in person or virtually for this inaugural event. Simply visit wualumni.org/jessienyesociety to learn more.

This month, the Third Year Anywhere™ Program has also been recognized as one of the top programs in student innovation and development by Bloomberg Law. Since its implementation in the fall of 2019, the Third Year Anywhere has given students the freedom and flexibility to finish their education while gaining early experience in one of six sectors. This pioneering program has provided opportunities for our students to jump-start their law careers. We’re proud to offer this program and continue to look for new ways to enhance the modern students’ experience.

There’s also big news on the university side. Just last week, the university released a new virtual tour experience. This virtual tour offers an in-depth look at the campus, academic programs, and what the student experience is like at Washburn. We invite you to view the new virtual tour and share it with prospective students and help us spread the word about the great things happening at the law school.

As always, I will continue to keep you updated on any changes happening at the law school. In the meantime, if you have questions, please reach out to me. I stand by my statement, this is your law school. I am always happy to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Jeff
