Message from Dean Jackson

Hello, Washburn Law Alumni and Community,

After a great semester, summer is finally here. Our May graduates have walked across the stage, and I know many of our current students welcome a little downtime before jumping into their next semester in the new building! After much anticipation, a date for a public ribbon cutting and dedication has been set. We invite you to join us back on campus on Friday, July 21, for this special event.

We have been patiently waiting to see this project completed. Thanks to our alumni and donors, we now have the opportunity to call this new state-of-the-art building our home. The new technology and functionality of the new building will allow us to deliver a first-class modern legal education. It will also allow us to continue and improve the Third Year Anywhere experience for current students and allow us to continue to recruit the next generation of attorneys. I am beyond excited for this historical moment. I truly hope you will be able to join us in July.

As the finishing touches are underway in the new building, faculty and staff are working hard to pack up the old building. Should you reach out, our folks may not be as quick to respond as they normally would. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this chaotic and exciting time.

As I mentioned in my last letter, Washburn is on an excellent path with Dr. JuliAnn Mazachek leading the way. I expect our alumni will be pleased with the trajectory of the university and our beloved law school.

While these new changes are being announced, I welcome you to reach out with any questions. I will always stand by my statement—this is your law school. I am always happy to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Jeff
