Message from Dean Jackson

Hello, Washburn Law Alumni and Community,

What an exciting time to be at Washburn!

I am thrilled to share that the school of law experienced an increase of more than 9% in enrollment for this fall’s first-year class. Credentials for the class also remained strong, demonstrating a median GPA of 3.59 and median LSAT score of 154. The prospect of moving into our new home certainly played a part in this increase, as did the hard work of our admissions team. I am confident our new Assistant Dean for Admissions, Kaitlin Alegria ba ’12, jd ‘15, will take further advantage of our new home and her innovative strategies to strengthen enrollment here at the Law School.

We are not alone in celebrating good news on Washburn’s campus. The university had the largest recorded incoming freshmen class this year. That’s a 20% increase in first-time freshmen students! The increase marks the first time in a decade that Washburn has reported enrollment growth. I am thrilled by this news and look forward to the continued increase in enrollment across campus.

As always, our students passing the bar exam and gaining admission to our profession is a priority for us. While we await final results, preliminary numbers indicate it was another successful exam for our recent graduates. I’ll share the final results with you as soon as they become available. In the meantime, rest assured that our recent graduates are starting on the right path to a successful law career.

As we continue through the fall semester, I would also like to extend an invitation to join us at the Law School Alumni Awards on Oct. 13. We will be honoring several remarkable alumni and would like you to join us to celebrate. RSVP and learn more about those being honored at www.wualumi.org/lawalumniawards.

I welcome you to reach out with any questions and will always stand by my statement: this is your law school! I am always happy to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Jeff
